The Divisional round of the 2020 NFL Playoffs begins on Saturday with the Minnesota Vikings, the No. 6 seed in the NFC, going head-to-head with the top-seeded San Francisco 49ers at 4:35 p.m. ET on NBC. The Vikings improbably made it out of Wild Card weekend with an overtime victory against the New Orleans Saints, but now must tackle another tough challenge on the road in San Francisco. Minnesota was the largest underdog on the board last weekend and isn’t a stranger to pulling off an upset, but it certainly won’t come easy against a well-rested, motivated Niners squad returning to the postseason after a six-year hiatus.

Oddsmakers don’t like Minnesota’s chances to reach the NFC Championship Game, opening them as seven-point ‘dogs in this 2020 NFL Playoff contest. That line hasn’t moved since first going up on the board and has been drawing an exactly even split of public action for both bets and cash wagered against the spread. The total—which started at 46.5 points—has shifted, however, dropping down to 44.5 points over the last few days. The sharp bettors are responsible for this adjustment, as 59% of the public tickets are on the over. The larger wagers like the under though, evidenced by 56% of the money coming in on that side of the line.

Will the 49ers come through with a rare win over the Vikings—they’ve beaten them just once in their last five tries—to reach the conference championship for the first time in six years, or will Minnesota improbably secure upset on the road during the 2020 NFL Playoffs by going into San Francisco and handling business on Saturday? Pro handicapper Jon Price of SportsInformationTraders.com has a prediction on this matchup that you will not want to miss. Before seeing which side the Vegas expert is picking to both win and cover the spread, take a look at the full schedule of games, kickoff start times, TV viewing info, updated odds and the bracket for the entire Divisional Round slate. You can also find key betting trends, an in-depth preview and more to help you make an informed decision when betting on the Vikings vs. 49ers 2020 NFL Playoff battle.

The Tennessee Titans playing the Baltimore Ravens on Saturday night means there will be a new Super Bowl champion in the NFL come 2020. The Titans ensured that by toppling the Patriots dynasty in a surprise 20-13 upset that knocked the six-time Super Bowl winners out of the playoffs in the Wild Card Round for the first time since 2009 — also the last year they did not have a first-round bye.

The Titans' reward seems more like a punishment: They face the NFL's best team in the regular season on the road. The Ravens, who last made the Super Bowl during the 2012-13 season, are poised to make a serious run behind the play of MVP front-runner Lamar Jackson. Riding a 12-game win streak, the Ravens bulldozed through fellow contenders like the 49ers, Texans, and Seahawks to secure home-field advantage throughout the playoffs.

The Titans, meanwhile, had to fight their way in after late-season losses against the Texans and Saints. Quarterback Ryan Tannehill rallied the troops, beating the Texans' backups in Week 17 to earn a spot before running back Derrick Henry took the team on his back to break the Patriots' run on the AFC in Foxboro.

Can the Titans keep their Cinderella momentum rolling this weekend? Or will the glass slipper crack on the Baltimore turf against a team that shut out the Titans 21-0 the last time they played? This rivalry has been incredibly tight with the Ravens leading the all-time series 12-11, including 2-1 in the postseason.

AFC Divisional Playoff: Tennessee at Baltimore

Kickoff: Saturday, Jan. 11 at 8:15 p.m. ET

TV: CBS

Spread: Ravens -10

Three Things To Watch

1. Can Derrick Henry outrun the Ravens' defense?

Henry singlehandedly toppled the Patriots last week, rushing for 182 yards and the game-winning touchdown at the end of the first half. Henry earned every one of the 75 yards for the Titans on that drive; in total, he racked up 75 percent of the Titans' total offense.

And in that game, it's not like the Patriots' defense struggled. Ryan Tannehill was limited to 72 passing yards, and the Titans' offense didn’t score at all in the second half. But in the end, Henry as a one-man wrecking crew was enough to get the Titans over the finish line.

How can he be stopped?

"Start fast," Ravens linebacker Matthew Judon said on "Good Morning Football" this week. "We want to hit him as many times as possible. We know he's a good running back, but it all starts with us. Our communication, our assignment, and our technique. As long as we do that, we're going to be able to attack him in different ways that he hasn't seen this year. We understand that he's one of the best running backs in the league, and we can't sleep on him because once he gets started, he's a hard tackle."

The Ravens were fifth in the NFL against the run, allowing 93.4 yards per game, but they're susceptible to a running back like Henry. Their 4.4 yards per rushing play ranked just 21st in the league, and they gave up more than 100 rushing yards five times in the second half of the season. In one of their two losses, the Browns' Nick Chubb racked up 165 yards and three touchdowns on 20 carries. Of course, that loss came back in September — a lifetime ago in Ravens land — but is worth noting considering Henry's ascendance.

2. Who will be the offensive superstar for the Ravens... other than Lamar Jackson?

Jackson's MVP status for the Ravens is clear to even the most casual NFL fan. But once any team reaches the postseason, it's hard for the quarterback himself to do it on his own. As we saw with Tom Brady last week, weapons have to be open and available for Jackson to throw to.

Part of opening up the passing lanes is a solid Ravens run game and that's in question with Mark Ingram's calf injury. Ingram went through limited practice Thursday — his first since the Dec. 22 injury and a good sign he’ll suit up for Saturday night's game — but it's clear he’ll be less than 100 percent. Gus Edwards is prepared to go in Ingram's stead, and he's a capable backup, piling up 130 yards on 21 carries in the season finale against the Steelers.

Jackson alone has rushed for 100-plus yards five times this season, racking up a quarterback-record 1,206 yards. It was part of a multi-dimensional rushing offense that led the NFL with 206.0 yards per game. Will the potential loss of Ingram be enough to slow the Ravens down, allowing the defense to focus more on Jackson? Defensively, the Titans ranked 12th against the run but allowed the Patriots to rush for 98 yards, their best performance in a month.

The Ravens receivers, usually bit players, have not had a 100-yard receiving game by any individual the second half of the season. Can rookies Marquise Brown or Miles Boykin step up and make a big catch deep if needed? How about the inconsistent play of Willie Snead? Someone needs to become a "go-to" guy if the Titans are able to stuff the Ravens at the line of scrimmage.

3. Can Jackson overcome last year's playoff demons?

Jackson has been absolutely incredible all year. In a way, you figure the pressure for this game falls on Tannehill, who must figure out how to reignite the offense Saturday night if the Ravens' defense buckles down and stops Henry.

And yet... there are questions here. Jackson had perhaps the worst game of his career last postseason against the Chargers. He fumbled three times, threw an interception, and passed for just 194 yards in a 23-17 loss that had fans seeking out Joe Flacco after an anemic first half.

"I really hate it," he said this week on the Baltimore Ravens website. "I can't wait to play this week coming up. I don't want to really talk about it anymore. It's over."

Certainly, Jackson is a whole different level of player in the way he's matured over the last 12 months. But playoff horror stories don't dissipate until there's a new chapter written in the history books. Jackson has to go out and prove that poor postseason play is behind him. How will he respond to an early turnover? Or if the Titans get on the board early? An MVP candidacy along with the Ravens' Super Bowl hopes will hang in the balance.

X-Factor: Weather
The forecast for this game is iffy for Saturday night. While unseasonably warm (61 degrees at kickoff) there's a 90 percent chance of heavy rain sometime during the evening. Winds will also be kicking up, out of the south at 10-20 mph.

In some ways, that benefits the Ravens in a low-scoring game with one of the best kickers of all time, Pro Bowler Justin Tucker, sitting on their roster. The first-team All-Pro missed just one field goal this season, going 28-for-29 in what was a disappointing year for kickers overall.

But despite the home-field advantage, a raging downpour turns this game into a battle of the trenches. It gives Henry an opportunity to match Jackson run-for-run and cuts down the horsepower of the Ravens' passing offense.

Final Analysis

Of all three teams the Ravens could have faced (Bills, Texans, Titans) it was Tennessee who was always going to provide the most difficult matchup. Can Jackson go out and win a low-scoring game where one bad turnover makes the difference? Can the defense stop Henry?

If there's one upset you’ll see in the divisional round, it will come here. The Titans are playing with house money after putting away the Patriots' dynasty, no small feat, and have one of the game's most innovative new head coaches in Mike Vrabel. Lamar Jackson, still young, has to prove he doesn't need another year of postseason seasoning and those early demons are clearly behind him.

Prediction: Tennessee 17, Baltimore 13

The New York Jets go to Buffalo, New York, to take on the Buffalo Bills at New Era Field next Sunday. The New York Jets do not have much to play for, as they are coming off of a loss to the Baltimore Ravens and have no shot at the playoffs.

The Jets are 5-9 on the season and have had a nightmare of a season. Many picked the New York Jets to be the surprise team that could challenge for the playoffs. However, for the most part, that team was actually their opponents, the Buffalo Bills. The Jets were seen as a completely new team as in the offseason, they improve their defense and got Le' Veon Bell to pair him with Sam Darnold. However, with Sam Darnold's injuries and a lack of creativity on the offense has spelled a terrible season for the New York Jets.

The Buffalo Bills will not have much to fight for in this one after their close loss to the New England Patriots on Saturday gave the Patriots the AFC East Division. The Bills are locked in the fifth seed in the AFC playoffs.

Bills have been a huge surprise team, with their defense helping carry them to a playoff spot in the AFC. Josh Allen hasn't had a terrible season either at quarterback, improving on what he did last year. However, the Bills may rest some players in this one to keep them healthy for the playoffs.

New York is 5-9 ATS this season
Over is 7-7 for the Jets this season
Buffalo is 9-4-1 ATS this season
Over is 3-11 for the Bills this season

I don't think that the Buffalo Bills will be trying that hard in this one, I think that they likely sit Josh Allen and many other starters pretty early into the game to keep them healthy for the playoffs. I think this results in a New York Jets win, and giving the fans something to look forward to as they have had a season that did not live up to the potential that it could have been. Final Score Prediction, New York Jets win 21-17.

New Orleans may have already won the NFC South but there’s still work to be done on Sunday against Carolina. The Saints (12-3) are still playing for playoff seeding as a victory over the Panthers and a loss by either the Packers (at Lions) or 49ers (at Seahawks) gives them a first-round bye. Additionally, if New Orleans wins and Green Bay and San Francisco both lose, then the Saints will be the No. 1 seed in the NFC.

Last Sunday in Nashville, New Orleans fell behind Tennessee 14-0 in the first quarter thanks to some big plays from the Titans. But the Saints finally got their offense going, as a 61-yard touchdown pass from Drew Brees to Jared Cook late in the second quarter trimmed the lead to 14-10. More offense followed in the third quarter as Alvin Kamara found the end zone twice. New Orleans built a 10-point lead and went on to post a 38-28 victory. This game also was memorable in that Michael Thomas broke Marvin Harrison’s single-season record for receptions with his 144th catch late in the fourth quarter.

Likewise, the Panthers (5-10) also fell behind 14-0 after the first quarter on the road. The difference for Carolina was that it could never get anything going on offense against Indianapolis. With rookie Will Grier making his first NFL start at quarterback all the Panthers could muster was a pair of field goals. The Colts ran for 218 yards and Nyheim Hines returned two punts for touchdowns in the 38-6 rout that extended Carolina’s losing streak to seven in a row.

Included in this stretch was a 34-31 loss to the Saints in New Orleans in Week 12. In that game, the Panthers fought back from a 13-point deficit in the third quarter to tie the score at 31 with a little more than nine minutes remaining, only to watch Brees march the Saints down the field to set up Wil Lutz’ 33-yard, game-winning field goal as time expired.

New Orleans at Carolina

Kickoff: Sunday, Dec. 29 at 1 p.m. ET

TV: FOX

Spread: Saints -13

Three Things to Watch

1. Can Christian McCaffrey halt the Saints' defense remarkable streak?

New Orleans’ defense has controlled the opposition’s running game this season. The Saints are fifth in the NFL against the run, limiting teams to 94.7 rushing yards per game. They also have surrendered a total of 11 rushing touchdowns in 15 games.

What’s even more impressive is that New Orleans hasn’t yielded a 100-yard rushing game to a running back in more than two years. In Week 11 of the 2017 season, Washington’s Samaje Perine went for 117 yards on 23 carries. Since then no running back has cracked the century mark against the Saints, a span of 41 games.

During this streak, McCaffrey has faced New Orleans five times. In those games, McCaffrey has totaled 103 rushing yards with his best performance coming earlier this season when he finished with 64 on 22 attempts. McCaffrey remains a threat in the passing game (two 100-yard receiving games vs. Saints), but the fact that Carolina’s best player is averaging 3.2 yards per carry in his career (six total games) against this defense does not bode well for the Panthers’ chances.

2. Will the Saints reduce their penalties and continue to protect the ball?

One of the keys to New Orleans' success this year has been avoiding turnovers. The Saints sit atop the NFL with just eight giveaways. In 15 games, the quarterbacking trio of Drew Brees, Teddy Bridgewater, and Taysom Hill has combined to throw six interceptions in 549 pass attempts. As a team, the Saints have only lost two fumbles, the fewest in the league.

Carolina probably needs some takeaways to have a chance at pulling off the upset, but New Orleans just isn’t one to give the ball away. The Panthers have 14 interceptions on the season and one of those came against Brees in Week 12. But he hasn’t thrown one since with 13 touchdown passes (and one rushing TD) over his last four games.

One thing that could help Carolina hang around is penalties. The Saints are ranked near the top when it comes to accepted penalties (117, fifth) and yards penalized (992, sixth). New Orleans needs to tighten things up before the snap and cut down on the self-inflicted mistakes after it. Not so much for this game, but with the playoffs on the horizon.

3. Motivation for both teams

New Orleans knows full what’s at stake in this game, as the Saints must win to have any shot at a first-round bye or home-field advantage. The only reason Sean Payton will pull Brees or Kamara or any of his key starters is if New Orleans jumps out to a huge lead and puts this game out of reach. No one needs to tell the Saints what a huge advantage it will be to avoid Wild Card Weekend and ensure that their first playoff game is in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.

On the other side, Carolina already fired head coach Ron Rivera so the players know that changes are coming this offseason. The Panthers have a chance to make New Orleans’ playoff path tougher but does this team really care about playing spoiler at this point? Instead, another loss could secure a top-five draft pick next year for a team that’s clearly headed for some sort of overhaul.

Final Analysis

The Saints have every reason to take this game seriously. Although they cannot clinch a first-round bye in the playoffs on their own, they have to win if they even want a shot at missing Wild Card Weekend. Keeping tabs on Green Bay’s game in Detroit is probably unavoidable, but the Saints must maintain focus and try and deliver an early knockout punch to the Panthers.

Carolina's players probably want nothing more than to end this miserable season. The same goes for the fans, as chances are Bank of America Stadium will be at less than capacity and the breakdown will probably favor the visitors. Regardless of the atmosphere, New Orleans should have little trouble taking care of business on Sunday afternoon. The Saints will then play the waiting game to see how the NFC bracket shapes up.

Prediction: Saints 34, Panthers 10

In the Browns loss to the Steelers, Baker Mayfield led the way for Cleveland.  Mayfield completed 18 of 32 for 196 yds, while throwing 1 touchdown and an interception.  The Browns got out on top early, thanks to an Austin Seibert field goal and a Kareem Hunt touchdown reception.  The Steelers would score the next 20 points in the game.  The Browns got another field goal from Seibert in the 4th quarter to pull within a touchdown, but would get no closer.  The Browns had 2 turnovers in the game.

Recent Betting Trends:

Bengals are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 road games.

The Packers are now the 2019 NFC North champions after beating the Minnesota Vikings on the road for Monday Night Football. Now, their goal is to clinch the home-field advantage throughout the NFC playoffs.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis
The Detroit Lions have lost eight in a row, and are now in contention for a very high pick in the 2020 draft. A win on Sunday against Green Bay would be an upset of epic proportions, and one that would actually be bad for both teams in the big picture.

Green Bay is currently priced as 13-point road favorites in Week 17. If the Pack beats the Lions, they can secure the conference’s No.1 seed IF the 49rs lose to the Seahawks in what will be the final game of the regular season on Sunday night.

Green Bay Packers
Green Bay is now on a four-game winning streak with that win in Minnesota, and a victory in Detroit will give them a perfect record this year against their division rivals. The fact that they pulled off a win, and by 13 points, is remarkable considering the game they had. Green Bay turned the ball over three times but still came away with a win thanks to an unbelievable defensive performance and another lights out game from Aaron Jones.

The defense allowed the Vikes just 139 total yards, 7 first downs, and just 10 points in what would be Kirk Cousins ninth straight Monday Night Football loss.

The last time the Packers made a postseason appearance was in 2016. The last time they earned a bye was in 2014. Matt LaFleur is the 10th rookie coach in league history to get 12 wins, and he helped the Pack win for the first time in four tries in the Vikings’ new stadium.

Detroit Lions
The Detroit Lions are a busted-up bunch, as shown again in last week’s loss to the Denver Broncos. That loss marked their eighth in a row, and their 11th in 12 games.

In that 27-17 loss to Denver, they lost another player to injury. This time it was rookie linebacker Jahlani Tavai, who went out with a shoulder injury, and was placed on an injured reserve list that now features 15 Lions players.

If they lose to the Packers on Sunday, it’ll be the worst Lions season record since their 2-14 2009 record. That was the year after their abysmal winless 2008.

The Kansas City Chiefs will look to sweep the AFC West on Sunday against the Los Angeles Chargers. While Kansas City has been on fire, the Chargers would finish in last place in the division if they lose this game. Can LA play spoiler? Will this be Philip Rivers last appearance as a Charger? Let’s touch on those headlines and others, with our Chiefs versus Chargers game preview.

If this is Rivers final game with this team, it is fitting that it would come against the Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium. The Chiefs and Chargers rivalry has grown into a greater animosity throughout the quarterback’s NFL tenure. In the first meeting between these two teams this year, Rivers had a sloppy second half. He finished with just one touchdown to four interceptions. Additionally, Kansas City was successful in constantly pressuring Rivers.

This interception filled game is no different than most of his other games this season. He has thrown 18 interceptions in 15 games this year. Furthermore, Rivers has gone interception-less in just six of his outings. His arm has never been among the best in the league. However, the decision making of his is surprising, given his storied and lengthy career.

Where he bested Kansas City the most earlier in the year? It was with short, check down throws. Most notably, the Chiefs were hurt the most by the Chargers running backs. Austin Ekeler has had an unbelievable season as a dual threat back. He has accumulated over 1,400 total yards with 11 total touchdowns. Meanwhile, Melvin Gordon has been playing better lately as well. The Chiefs linebackers will look to slow those guys down on Sunday.

Returning To Form
On the other hand, the Kansas City quarterback has been back to full strength and health the last few weeks. This is the first week that the team did not list Patrick Mahomes on the injury report since entering Week One. Mahomes has been efficient and dazzling at the same time over the last couple of weeks. We were very spoiled with the performance of the Chiefs offense in 2018. But believe it or not, Mahomes has actually improved as a passer this season, in different segments.

He has seen the field better, for the most part. To boot, he is standing in the pocket a lot more consistently, while still knowing when it’s best to try and extend plays. Most of all, Mahomes has not forced as many passes into tight coverage. The chances being taken are more calculated. On Sunday, Mahomes and the Chiefs will look to further expand their hot steak against the Chargers.

Running In Circles
Just when things were looking up for the Chiefs running backs, Spencer Ware suffered a season ending injury. Ware was impressive in his brief return to Kansas City. The Chiefs passing game fed off of his pass protection. He was cutting down opponents or throwing them out of the bar. As of this writing, the Chiefs will enter Sunday with just three active running backs against the Chargers.

Damien Williams had one of his better performances of the season last week. But, the consistency still needs to be seen to gain the trust from the coaching staff. As long as Williams shows the burst and jump in his step that he displayed last game, he will be fine.

Meanwhile, Darwin Thompson‘s opportunity has yo-yoed each week. It seems like the team is waiting for the perfect situation every game before deciding to bring him in. His speed and patience is what has stood out. The Chiefs might as well give him more snaps against the Chargers.

Finally, LeSean McCoy was a healthy scratch last week. Does Kansas City really think he will hold up under pressure? The latest decisions would tell you no.
